The Simaudio MOON Equinox is part of the MOON Classic Series — a premium audiophile CD player combining the elegance of the MOON Eclipse with circuitry derived from the MOON Nova CD and MOON Orion DVD Players. Built in Canada by Simaudio, a company with over 25 years of high-performance audio experience.
Its BurrBrown PCM1730E DAC achieves 24-bit/192kHz conversion with 8× oversampling, paired with internal upsampling to 24-bit/352.8kHz. Separate digital and analog power supplies with 7 stages of DC voltage regulation keep noise floors impressively low. THD below 0.001% and intrinsic jitter below 50 picoseconds RMS.
The rear panel provides a pair of RCA analog outputs plus an S/PDIF RCA digital output for use as a standalone transport feeding an external DAC or surround processor.
Break-in note: Performance improves during the first 400 hours of listening. Simaudio recommends leaving the unit powered on at all times for optimal performance.
